SUNY Oswego announces UW-Green Bay’s Furlong as provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs
Congratulations to Scott Furlong, dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences whose appointment as provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs at SUNY Oswego was announced this morning (Friday, April 28) by SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley. His appointment will take effect in summer 2017. In his new role Furlong will be responsible for leadership of all instructional and academic programs across the college, including Oswego’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Education, and School of Communication, Media and the Arts. UW-Green Bay Provost Gregory Davis spoke highly of Furlong, a friend and colleague of his for more than two decades. “I’ve always been most impressed with Scott’s unwavering commitment to shared governance, liberal education, and student success,” said Davis. “I have no doubt that he will be successful and well-respected in his new role as Provost at SUNY Oswego.” According to Davis, succession planning to fill Furlong’s role are in progress and will be announced in the near future.
