Two campuses make text alerts mandatory; UW-Green Bay in upper half

The Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism has done another of its public-service reports, this time with the headline “Emergency text alerts not reaching most people on University of Wisconsin campuses.” Platteville and Stevens Point make it mandatory for students to supply a cell phone number, but the other schools including UW-Green Bay do not. UW-Green Bay, however, reports one of the better sign-up rates among the UW System schools that use opt-in, and the University has other ways (including a public address system throughout its concourse system) to spread any emergency alerts.
