Highlights from a diamond thriller in Madison
The women’s softball team is having a fine year, and Green Bay played to form most of Wednesday afternoon’s doubleheader at UW-Madison. The Phoenix, however, couldn’t hold a four-run lead in the final inning of Game 1, and dropped a 9-8 decision. Green Bay led for much of the second game, as well, but UW pulled away late to win 5-2. Strong showing by a disappointed Phoenix team, now 16-9 and still a solid Horizon League contender. UW meanwhile, has seven straight wins and a 24-15 record. The games were carried live by the Big Ten Network, which offers a nice (if Badger-centric) recap at http://btn.com/video/?select=wA_hifta7zMT.
