The Brown County Library previewed books recently by Wisconsin authors. Included is the book “Once in Love, Always in Love” by Father Richard Mauthe, namesake of the Mauthe Center (formerly the Ecumenical Center) located adjacent to UW-Green Bay. The following is the review in the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “In 2010, the Ecumenical Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was renamed the Mauthe Center in honor of Father Mauthe. In this self-published memoir, readers learn about the man behind the collar. In this book, the late Mauthe reflects on his life and regales readers with scenes from his childhood — his adoption, stealing an ice cream from the store, gaining his brother as a sibling and, later on, attending Marquette University, falling in love with his girlfriend and attending seminary. He discusses his time at the UWGB Ecumenical Center — helping build and grow the ministry. Throughout the book, Mauthe poses moral and philosophical questions and attempts to provide answers to these complicated questions through his viewpoint. His honest anecdotes are light-hearted and he injects humor throughout the chapters. Although he’s no longer living, his spirit shines through the pages of this book.”
