Bessie steps down at Stout

Stout provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs Joe Bessie has resigned
and will be teaching in the English and philosophy department. In a memo to campus staff, Chancellor Charles Sorensen noted that Jackie Weissenburger, current associate chancellor, will assume Bessie’s duties on an interim basis. “I very much enjoy the role of provost, but it has become clear to me that this particular administrative environment is not a good fit for me,” said Bessie, who served less than a year in the position.
