System enrollment hits record mark

The UW System had a record 175,056 students enrolled in September 2008, an all-time record for the System. The mark increased by 1,663 from 2007 and is equal to 149,494 full-time equivalent enrollments, also a record for the System. Over the last decade, enrollment at UW’s 26 campuses grew 12 percent, while FTE enrollment grew 14 percent. UW System President Kevin P. Reilly cited the growth in enrollment as evidence of the UW System following through on its commitment to do more for the state and its long-term economic health.
