On Feb 14, 2022 students in Prof. Aaron Weinschenk’s “Congress: Politics and Policy,” which focuses on the U.S. Congress but also covers state legislatures, had the opportunity to hear from State Senator Eric Wimberger (R-30th district). Senator Wimberger provided a brief introduction and the remaining time was spent on a Q&A session. Students were able to ask Senator Wimberger questions on a wide range of topics, such as political parties/polarization, running for office, committees, and the legislative process, among many others. Senator Wimberger is the first guest speaker of the semester. During the remainder of the semester, students with experience guest lectures from a member of the state assembly, a former member of the U.S. House, and a former U.S. Senator. The guest speakers have a mix of different experiences and come from both of the major political parties.
