Swimming and diving teams celebrate Senior Day

Ten Phoenix seniors were honored on Saturday morning as the Green Bay men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams welcomed Wisconsin to the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium for their annual Senior Day meet. The Phoenix turned in several strong performances against the tough Big Ten opponents, but Badgers prevailed on both sides, winning the women’s competition 140-94 and the men’s competition 140-98. There were two Green Bay winners on the women’s side, as sprinter Parker Wolf took the 50-yard freestyle and diver Carrie Dinelli won the 3-meter board, while Willem Poelmans (Hasselt, Belgium) was the star on the men’s side, winning the 200 IM in a pool record 1:52.32.The Phoenix women concluded their outstanding regular season with a 9-2 dual meet record – 18-2 against all opponents – while the men’s squad moved to 5-4 in head-to-head competition. Next up is the 2014 Horizon League Championship meet, Feb. 26-March 1 in Cleveland, Ohio. Read more on the recent meet and the list of seniors.
