Next 6:30 Concert — a very small consortium, Feb. 23, 2018
UW-Green Bay Music’s 6:30 Concert Series continues with “a very small consortium” on Friday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the Weidner Center’s Fort Howard Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
“a very small consortium,” features an ensemble of UW-Green Bay Music faculty and friends performing an international array of miniature compositions selected from an annual call for scores. These works, dubbed “miniature morsels of music,” either consist of 100 notes or fewer, or have a duration of one minute or less. The eclectic repertoire is curated by Michelle McQuade Dewhirst, Associate Prof. of Music at UW-Green Bay. According to Dewhirst, a composer herself, “Creativity is often found within constraints. When composers write miniatures, they need to distill ideas down to their essence — the results are fascinating!”
