Kentucky, Pennsylvania educators join UW’s Cross as president finalists
The UW System announced three finalists Thursday for the position of UW System president to succeed Kevin Reilly. They are:
• Raymond W. Cross
Chancellor, UW-Colleges and UW-Extension
• Peter H. Garland
Executive Vice Chancellor/CEO, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education
• Robert L. King
President, Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education
Regent President Michael Falbo and the Regent selection committee (John Behling, Margaret Farrow, Tracy Hribar, Edmund Manydeeds and Gerald Whitburn) will interview finalists on Monday (Jan. 6). They will recommend one candidate to the full Board of Regents, which must approve the appointment. The finalists were chosen by an 18-member search and screen committee that included UW-Green Bay’s Heba Mohammad, the lone student on the panel.

Finalists’ presentations to be viewable via videoconference, this Monday
IS 1034 — the large distance-learning room in the Instructional Services Building — will be the setting for UW-Green Bay’s participation in statewide video conferences featuring each of the three finalists for UW System president. The sessions this Monday (Jan. 6) will originate from Madison, on the following schedule:
• 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Robert L. King
• 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Raymond W. Cross
• 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., Peter H. Garland
The UW System says these “public conversations” are open to all, providing opportunities for faculty, staff, students, and community members to interact with candidates and provide feedback. Following the interviews and public forums, the selection committee will convene on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The committee’s recommendation will be taken up by the full Board of Regents on Thursday, Jan. 9, and the new president announced some time after that meeting.
