SBDC part of business success story with Iraq war vet

Justin Folkman, injured in Iraq, returned to Green Bay and helped create Folkman Inc., a metal fabrication business. Working with UW-Green Bay staff in the Small Business Development Center since 2007, Folkman and his father now have 10 employees, anticipate $3 million in annual sales, are investing in additional equipment and will move from leased space to their own 10,000-square-foot building in the Howard Industrial Park in December. A current project involves creation of stairways, handrails and more for a pre-engineered metal building being constructed on government contract. They have built their business through government contract work and have used their status as a Service Related Disabled Veteran-owned business to their advantage. Small Business Development Centers across Wisconsin serve returning veterans, including helping them decide if they’re cut out to be business owners.
