Warren Gerds column: The early days of WPNE, UWGB

The Green Bay Press-Gazette’s Warren Gerds wrote a Sunday (Nov. 4) column — with numerous UW-Green Bay ties — on the 40th anniversary of WPNE, Channel 38. Gerds explores the history of the regional Public Television studio, located on campus, including its early days and current programming. The station grew up with the campus, said Joe Gaunt, who helped lay the groundwork for the station. “It was an exciting opportunity to build from scratch a brand new University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, a brand new public television station, a brand new public radio station,” Gaunt said, “and each one survives to this day.” Full story.
