Sauerhammer’s story: Tale of youngest alum goes national
The compelling story of UW-Green Bay’s youngest alumna has gone national after the Associated Press picked up this month’s cover story in YOU magazine. Dr. Tina Sauerhammer ’99 has been making local headlines since she recently came home to join the team at Prevea Health. As Log readers may recall (and may have read in our fall Inside 360° magazine, which also features Sauerhammer on the cover), the groundbreaking surgeon graduated from UW-Green Bay at 18 and finished med school at just 22. She won the title of Miss Wisconsin, and went on to be part of the team that performed the first-ever full face transplant in the United States. The Minneapolis Star Tribune and Charlotte Observer are among the papers that have picked up her story.
