In the news: More coverage of free application pilot program
A new pilot program that allows seniors from three Green Bay high schools to apply for free to UW-Green Bay is continuing to receive media attention, most recently from WLUK, Fox 11. Reporter Kelly Schlicht was on campus Tuesday (Sept. 9), talking to Phuture Phoenix interim director Stephanie Cataldo-Pabich about the donor generosity that makes the program possible, as well as the significance for students from Green Bay East, West and Preble high schools. “We have actually asked and that (the cost) is a barrier for some students who live in a lower-income population,” Cataldo-Pabich said. “So we just want that not to be a barrier.” Astute Log readers may notice that the story’s headline incorrectly says the application fee is waived for these students — in fact, the fee is covered by donors.
