WBAY: Furloughs begin

Furloughs for many state agencies are starting to gear up, and UW-Green Bay is no exception.

“We could start taking our furlough days in July, so I already took one,” Office of Student Life Director Lisa Tetzloff told WBAY reporter Sarah Thomsen.

Human Resources Director Sheryl Van Gruensven said there is both frustration and acceptance among faculty and staff ordered to take 16 furlough days over the next two years by Gov. Jim Doyle.

“People are not happy, obviously — it’s an emotional issue for employees — but at the same time I think employees are thankful they have jobs, too,” Van Gruensven said.
