UW-Marinette name change news

The Marinette County Board will be asked to consider supporting a University of Wisconsin plan to change the name of the UW-Marinette to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Marinette Campus, as requested by the University. The proposed letter from County Board Chair Mark Anderson to UW President Ray Cross would state in part: “We realize this name change is necessary due to the reorganization of the University of Wisconsin Colleges (UW-Colleges) to become branch campuses of the Comprehensive Universities within the University of Wisconsin System. It is our hope this change will mean the beginning of a stable, vibrant and far-reaching university in Northeast Wisconsin. The Board believes the name change, consistent with regulations from the University of Wisconsin System, best reflects what we hope this new relationship with UW-Green Bay will be.” Read the full story in the Peshtigo Times.
