Gazdik ’08, Prepared Penguin on job for Brown County Emergency Management
Saturday’s (July 5) Press-Gazette Business section featured a great story about 2008 UW-Green Bay grad Paul Gazdik, who at just 28 years old is among the youngest people ever to hold the position of Emergency Management Director for Brown County. Gazdik was a Social Change and Development major who interned with the Emergency Management Department before working his way up the ranks to ultimately obtain the department’s top job. Now his position involves allocating resources to 18 fire departments, eight police agencies and one sheriff’s office when a crisis occurs to ensure departments are well-equipped in case of emergency. He’s also leveraging social media — including the “Preparedness Penguin” Twitter feed — to better connect with news media and the larger community. Full story.
