In the news: National award-winning teacher has UW-Green Bay ties

You may have heard last month that an Appleton teacher is set to receive a national teaching recognition from President Obama. What you may not have known is that Kara Pezzi, a chemistry teacher from Appleton East High School, has UW-Green Bay ties. For close to a decade, she’s worked with students to monitor Apple Creek as part of the University’s Lower Fox River Watershed Monitoring Program. In fact, Pezzi was one of the teachers who helped design the program back in 2003, LFRWMP project director and NAS Prof. Kevin Fermanich tells us. She’s continued to work in an advisory role to help other teachers learn the ropes, and continues to work with her students at Appleton East. Congrats, Kara!
