A recent article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel quotes UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank and others about a GOP bill on its way to becoming state law that would change the way the UW System handles tenure. The proposal is generating intense criticism from faculty members, including one UW-Green Bay educator whose blog was quoted in the J-S article. “In one of the most bizarre developments I can think of in higher ed, we are about to have one of the world’s most respected university systems pretend to have tenure,” wrote Chuck Rybak, associate professor of English and Humanistic Studies.
