Accessible food truck to become a reality thanks to UWGB philanthropy class | WLUK

The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Brown County is this year’s recipient. It provides over 600 federally-funded meals throughout the county each day.

“This $10,000 grant will be a catalyst,” said ADRC Director Devon Christianson. “It will help lift off a project we’ve been dreaming about and planning for several years.”

That project will involve bringing food to people rather than waiting for it to come to them.

“It will help us meet people where they are at and where they live,” explained Christianson. “This will provide a donation-based balanced meal to rural communities and ethnically diverse populations.”

Apart from providing a nutritious meal, the truck will also provide learning experience for those with disabilities, as they work on the truck. And whether worker or diner, the truck will provide a space to gather together as a community, according to Christianson.

The food truck purchase and renovation was funded by a different grant. But the money from UWGB’s class will provide for supplies, staffing and other needs.
