Update on UW-Green Bay study of Green Bay port expansion
A study of the potential for an intermodal shipping facility in the Port of Green Bay is expected to be completed in June. The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that the subject came up earlier this week during the 2011 Port of Green Bay Symposium at the Green Bay Yacht Club in Green Bay.
John Stoll, a UW-Green Bay economics professor working on the study, said researchers are still looking at some of the numbers, including traffic volumes, that would be needed to make the concept workable. It could also spur additional international trade, said Ray Hutchison, professor and chairman of urban and regional studies at UW-Green Bay, who is working on the study with Stoll.
