GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – UW System President Tommy Thompson made his final stop at the UW-Green Bay campus on Tuesday.The university honored his advocacy for higher education in a ceremony. Thompson spoke about the achievements UWGB made throughout the pandemic. He got emotional in his speech as he thanked those who supported him through his time as president. “I wanted to spend my last two weeks going around to all the campuses and not to receive thank you or congratulations. I’m here to thank you, and I wanted to go around and thank the chancellors, professors, the academic staff and, above all, the students for the fantastic support.” Thompson’s last day is Friday. Jay Rothman has been appointed to take over his role as UW system president.
