In the news: coverage of Walker’s proposals for UW System

State news outlets are reporting today (Tuesday, Jan. 27) that the University of Wisconsin System would be given more autonomy, while having its state funding slashed by 13 percent over the next two years, under the budget Gov. Scott Walker will submit to the Legislature next week. Walker released details of his budget plan as it affects the UW System to the Associated Press on Monday ahead of today’s public announcement. The autonomy proposal enjoys support from UW System leadership. As for the cuts, Walker says he is open to hearing how legislators react to his proposal. See Wisconsin State Journal coverage.
