AP names UW-Green Bay’s Wojta second-team All-America

For the first time in UW-Green Bay history, a Phoenix basketball player has been named to one of the top NCAA Division I All-America teams. Julie Wojta, a senior from Francis Creek, was accorded second-team honors by the Associated Press. This afternoon’s announcement places Wojta among the nation’s top ten players. Joining her on the second team are Stanford’s Chiney Ogwumike, Baylor sophomore Odyssey Sims, Miami senior Shenise Johnnson and Ohio State senior Samantha Prahalis. The first team is led by 6-8 Baylor center Brittney Griner. She is joined by Stanford’s Nnemkadi Ogwumike, Notre Dame’s Skylar Diggins, Delaware’s Elena Delle Donne and Maryland’s Alyssa Thomas. To put the recognition for Wojta in perspective, UW-Green Bay’s most decorated men’s basketball standout, Tony Bennett ’92, was an honorable mention selection as a senior.
