We brought you the news that Gov. Scott Walker signed an executive order requiring all UW System employees to report instances of child abuse or neglect to the police or child protective services. The action was accompanied by a letter from UW System President Kevin Reilly, reiterating that the System will begin an audit of campus practices and reaffirm its commitment to proper crime prevention and reporting. WBAY, Channel 2 picked up the story locally, interviewing UW-Green Bay Police Chief Tom Kujawa about the move. The executive order is on par with existing policy here, Kujawa said, but codifying it System-wide will be beneficial in terms of awareness and reinforcing a community’s obligation to protect its youth.
