Faculty note: Gurung co-edits book on controversy in the classroom

Just in time for semester’s end, our own Prof. Regan A.R. Gurung is publishing a book on controversy in the classroom. Collaborating with colleagues from schools across the country, Gurung co-edited Controversy in the Psychology Classroom: Using Hot Topics to Foster Critical Thinking, a book that provides frameworks for teaching controversial topics and skills for handling disruptions. Specific teaching topics include such hot-button issues as evolutionary psychology, childrearing, evil, and gender and ethnicity. The 280-page softcover volume will be released Dec. 17 by the publishing arm of the American Psychological Association, and can be ordered now: www.apa.org/pubs/books/4311017.aspx.
