In the news in Iowa: Clampitt book, media exec (and UW-Green Bay grad)

The Buzz, an online people-and-business blog of the Des Moines Register, included a recent mention of a book co-authored by Prof. Phil Clampitt of Information and Computing Science. The book is Transforming Leaders into Progress Makers: Leadership for the 21st Century, co-authored with Boldt Company CEO Robert J. DeKoch. The item highlighted the fact that Laura Hollingsworth, president and publisher of the Register, is among those the book profiles. Hollingsworth told the authors how she tried to break a pattern of inaction that led digital entrepreneurs to beat newspapers in creating online ventures such as eBay and Craigslist. The experiences taught her that organizations must dedicate resources to unproven ventures, particularly during good times. (Hollingsworth, you’ll recall, is a 1989 Communication Processes graduate of UW-Green Bay who returned to campus two years ago to deliver the December commencement address.)
