Columnist: Maki a private person thrust into public eye

Green Bay Press-Gazette columnist Tony Walter penned a thoughtful Sunday (Sept. 25) column about Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance Tom Maki, who has become the subject of some scrutiny after he retired in March and returned to UW-Green Bay as a rehired annuitant. Maki, Walter said, has become “the pin cushion” in terms of criticism surrounding the practice, which is allowed under state policy — and which, Walter points out, some 1,100 other public employees have used in similar circumstances.
