UWGB Management Information Systems and Statistics Prof. Gaurav Bansal recently shared his data science knowledge in the article, “Big Data, Big Gap” in the September New North Business to Business magazine. The article addresses the current gap in data science talent in the United States. UWGB is among six campuses in the UW System combating that gap by offering a new, data science master’s degree program. Prof. Bansal discusses the art of data science and the unique skillset needed for translating data into usable information. “Curiosity is what separates humans from computers,” said Bansal. “The challenge of managing data is being able to slice it and dice it to learn from it, and computers can’t do that. Computers don’t have curiosity.” Read it here.
