Prof. John Luczaj featured as coauthor in “Sedimentary Geology”
Geoscience Professor John Luczaj is coauthor of a new publication in the journal “Sedimentary Geology”, which just recently appeared online. The internationally collaborative work focused on the formation of dolomite in ancient (Triassic age) carbonate platforms of south China.
Luczaj’s contribution to the project was the measurement of tiny fluid inclusions trapped inside the dolomite minerals. These inclusions aid researchers in discovering the temperatures and fluid salinities that the rock encountered during the transformation from limestone to dolostone. This initial work was a springboard for Luczaj’s present NSF-funded project in the same region.
