Faculty note: Coman designated as Kopenhaver Center Fellow

Assistant Prof. Ioana Coman (Communication and Information & Computing Sciences) was designated as a 2017 Kopenhaver Center Fellow by the Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication at Florida International University, and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). Each year, only 25 tenure-track junior women faculty members are selected to participate and become fellows. Coman was introduced along with the other 24 fellows, in Chicago, during AEJMC’s 100th convention. There she completed the Women Faculty Moving Forward workshop where she was able to network and connect with other mentors and fellows. Additionally, during the year, the Kopenhaver Fellows are invited to take part in follow-up sessions and activities of both the CSW and the Kopenhaver Center. The Kopenhaver Center was established in 2012 by Dean Emeritus and Professor Dr. Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver as a pioneering site for the advancement of women in the field of communication.
