Faculty note: Shelton publication


Assistant Prof. Jon Shelton of Democracy and Justice Studies has published a new article in the Fall 2014 issues of the Journal of Social History. The article, titled “Letters to the Essex County Penitentiary: David Selden and the Fracturing of America,” uses a series of letters written to the imprisoned president of the American Federation of Teachers in 1970 to show how public-sector labor conflict led many Americans to question the postwar labor-liberal consensus in the early 1970s.
