Dutch makes media rounds after earthquake

UW-Green Bay’s resident geology expert was in high demand Tuesday (Aug. 23) after a magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit the east coast. Prof. Steven Dutch, Natural and Applied Sciences, made the interview rounds with newspaper, TV and radio reporters looking to put the quake in context — and confirm or rebuke claims folks here in Wisconsin might have felt the tremors. It’s possible Milwaukee and Madison felt the quake, if only minimally, Dutch said — but Wisconsin remains one of the most aseismic places in the country.
