Faculty/staff notes: Zhu earns recognition

Leanne Zhu, assistant professor of Human Biology, recently won the Pan-American Nutrition, Food Science and Technology Award given each year by Grupo Bimbo to a promising young investigator. Dr. Zhu was awarded the honor for her research investigating how tissue iron distribution and urinary mineral excretion vary depending on the form and route of iron administration. Grupo Bimbo is a Mexico-headquartered corporation that ranks among the world’s largest food manufacturers; it is best known in North America for its baking division and brands including Brownberry, Entenmann’s and Wonder.
