Dr. Alan Chu, Assistant Professor and Chair of M.S. Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology presented the study “COVID-19 Pandemic Stress and Resilience in Female College Students: A Multicase Study of Enrollment Formats” at the American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA. This study was recently accepted for publication in Educational and Developmental Psychologist. Below are three highlights of the study: (1) This study implemented a case study approach to take a deeper look at female college students’ pandemic stressors and resilience to inform personalized interventions. (2) Female students who enrolled exclusively online before the pandemic reported fewer school stressors but more family stressors during the pandemic than those who enrolled in person. (3) Results suggest that the female students with mental health diagnoses perceived more stressors and higher stress levels than those without diagnoses across pandemic stages.
