Mahfuz publishes article in IEEE Smart Cities Newsletter

Recently, the UW-Green Bay has been featured in the prestigious IEEE Smart Cities Newsletter (April 2022 issue) through an article, by the Resch School of Engineering Associate Professor Mohammad Upal Mahfuz, entitled “Developing Smart Cities Courses in Undergraduate Curricula: Engineering and Beyond.”

In this article, Dr. Mahfuz emphasized the importance of sustainability-focused instructional approaches in engineering undergraduate curricula as a means to bring sustainability into the classrooms via undergraduate courses. The article featured the two sustainability-focused courses at the UW-Green Bay, namely, ENGR 202 (An Introduction to Smart Cities) and ENGR 402 (Smart Cities Engineering the Future). The article also mentioned that these two courses at UW-Green Bay will stand as role models for other institutions working towards the recent educational research field of bridging sustainability and education.
