New dean is award-winning scholar, former faculty leader

Sue Joseph Mattison holds a bachelor’s in economics, a master’s in health education, and a Ph.D. in epidemiology. Her two decades as a faculty member and administrator at the University of Northern Iowa include back-to-back terms as elected chair of the UNI faculty. She has been author or editor of numerous journal articles related to public health, with a focus on case studies involving the diagnosis and treatment of breast and bladder cancers. In 2000 she received the Iowa Regents’ Award for Faculty Excellence in recognition of research, teaching and service and in 2004 she was presented UNI’s Distinguished Scholar Award.
