The venerable Kenny Rogers and his upcoming Weidner Center show headlined Kendra Meinert’s Thursday (Dec. 6) Green Bay Press-Gazette column, which noted the fact that he’ll roll in to town on a day dedicated to another famous Rodgers — the Packers’ no. 12. Rogers’ (not Rodgers’) Weidner Center show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 (12/12, as noted in the recognition for that other Rodgers), ending what’s been at least a 10-year hiatus for Kenny’s Christmas show at the Weidner. He’ll be accompanied by Green Bay native Kelly Junkermann, Meinert notes, who is particularly excited for the homecoming because he attended his first year of college at UW-Green Bay. Rogers’ performance (his crew likes to think of 12/12 as “Rogers and Rogers Day”) is the latest in what’s been a great year of shows — including two sellouts — for the Weidner, after plans for the venue’s re-launch were announced last year.
