Free QPR gatekeeper training for suicide prevention

Interested faculty, staff and students are invited to take part in QPR Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 1) in Alumni A/B of the University Union. Organizers say one hour of your time might help you save a life. “QPR” stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer,” and draws a parallel to CPR in that people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to help someone find the help they may need. The program emphasizes:
1) Recognize the warning signs of suicide;
2) Offer hope; and
3) Help that person find the help they need.
