Upcoming Training

Strengthening Your Business Model & Revenue Strategy
Thursday, October 279:30 a.m.- 4 pm.Tundra Lodge Resort & Conference Center, Green Bay

If there’s anything to be learned from the pandemic, it’s that the world changes quickly. For nonprofits to remain sustainable, they must be able to quickly respond to the changing economic environment and the needs of the communities they serve. To do so, they need a strong understanding of how their programs work together to create impact and financial viability.

This interactive, full-day training will introduce participants to the matrix map, an engaging tool that provides a visual depiction of an organization’s business model that shows how each activity contributes to the organization’s mission impact and financial viability. Beyond just a picture though, the matrix map offers strategic inquiries for board and staff to frame choices and make the necessary and at times difficult adjustments to their business model in the pursuit of sustainable impact. We’ll also discuss the elements behind the “right revenue” for an organization, allowing leadership to think strategically about which revenue streams align with an organization’s values and programs.

At the conclusion of this session, you will:

  • Understand the concepts of sustainability, the nature of nonprofit business models and how your organization’s activities work together to create a sustainable organization.
  • Develop a draft matrix map for your organization that you can expand upon and incorporate into your strategic discussions going forward.
  • Be able to analyze your business model and articulate the strategic inquiries to strengthen it based on your matrix map.
  • Recognize the necessary capacities for each revenue stream and identify the capacities that your organization must invest in to realize the potential of your revenue strategy
