Photos: ‘Green Innovations’ and dumpster-diving
Thursday marked the close of another successful Green Innovations environmental symposium at UW-Green Bay. The two-day event included a showing of the award-winning documentary Dive; a panel discussion with the film’s director and reps of local food pantries and organic food growers proved especially popular with students. During a luncheon Thursday, Aaron Popkey shared the “green” side of the Green Bay Packers, and Paul Wozniak ’78 and ’94, was presented the Alumni Earth Caretaker Award. There’s a nice photo gallery at the link below.
Popular Thursday was an exercise in “dumpster diving,” in which student researchers donned rubber gloves and boots to pick through dumpsters and assess trends in recycling compliance. They even made comparisons, dumpster to dumpster, involving dumpsters from student housing, the Union, and an academic facility. To see the divers in action, scroll to the second photo gallery.
