A ‘Godzilla’ dimension in UW-Green Bay instrumental music concert

The UW-Green Bay Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (March 5) in the Cofrin Family Hall at the Weidner Center. “Godzilla meets World of Warcraft: Music of Gaming, Anime, Imaginary Film and Fantasy” is a followup to last year’s popular fantasy concert, inspired by science fiction author Cory Doctorow’s descriptions of contemporary and future communities of enthusiasts. Last year’s concert included pre-concert and intermission live video gaming projected on the Weidner Center’s 20 foot screen. Director of Bands Kevin Collins promises similar treats this year. “Hearing this music honored and respected in a formal setting is really an affirming experience for fantasy fans as well as many of our band members, and, I think that our ‘regular’ audience members are delightfully surprised that this is such wonderful and expressive music,” he said.
