Prof. David Voelker (Humanistic Studies and History) will speak to the Green Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at the Mauthe Center at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27. His talk, “The Thanksgiving Myth: The Invention of a National Tradition,” will explore the myth of the first Thanksgiving celebration and its relationship to the tradition we now know as the Thanksgiving holiday. The history of this holiday raises significant questions about how we understand our national identity, especially with respect to the role of First Nations. All members of the campus community are welcome to join the service. Contact him with questions email@example.com.
