Wojta earns Horizon League’s top honor for student athletes

UW-Green Bay basketball star and May 2012 graduate Julie Wojta has been awarded the Horizon League’s highest individual honor, the Cecil N. Coleman Medal of Honor. The award is presented annually to the league’s top female and male student-athletes, honoring those who have demonstrated excellence in athletics, academics and extracurricular activities. Loyola’s Walt Gibler took home the men’s award. Wojta majored in Accounting and Business Administration and with her high GPA was a national Academic All-America selection. The WNBA draftee was 2012 Horizon League Player of the Year, Defensive Players of the Year, and second team AP All-America. More on this latest award.

Julie Wojta is the sixth student-athlete in Green Bay Athletics’ history to earn the Coleman Medal of Honor, and the fourth women’s basketball player. In case you were wondering, here’s the all-time list:
