Phoenix Room makeover

The Phoenix Rooms in the University Union are presently off line all summer, or at least until the first week of August, for a remodeling project that will give the space a more modern look. Rachael Larson, a graduate of UW-Green Bay and an interior designer for H.J. Martin and Son, was the consultant. University Union Poppy Grant is coordinating the update and working with the contractors. coordinated the project, and is working with all the contractors. The Phoenix Room — made up of Phoenix A, B and C when the dividers are in place — has had the same gray/burgundy look for the past 20 years, Grant says, and was “greatly in need of change, to keep up with current trends.” The new wallpaper will have more green, and a few new accent colors as well, and they’re changing out the floor from carpet to a wood-floor appearance. New tables and chairs have been ordered, which will be here by the time the fall semester arrives. To get a preview of some of the details, check the website at www.uwgb.edu/union/construction/. If you have any questions, feel free to call Poppy Grant at 465-2339. The very first event happening in this newly remodeled room will be a wedding ceremony.
