Amazon offers use of cloud computing tools

Amazon is opening its cloud-computing network to higher education applicants to help teach advanced courses, tackle research endeavors, and explore new projects. The Institute for Research shares word of the opportunity and notes that grants are available for teachers, researchers, students, and university information technology services. Awards will be in the form of credits that can be used in exchange for Amazon Web Services. Applications for researchers at colleges and universities are due May 15, August 14, and November 13, 2009.
