Annual SIMCOM event being held on campus May 3-5
Since 2007, the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs (DMA) has organized State Interoperable Mobile Communication (SIMCOM) to exercise mobile interoperable communication capabilities and interagency coordination. This year from May 3-5, DMA partnered with Brown and Eau Claire counties, and UW-Green Bay, to host SIMCOM.
SIMCOM 2023 will exercise the capabilities of state and local emergency responders to communicate effectively across multiple methods. The scenario involves a large-scale storm system, with multiple tornadoes impacting the Green Bay and Eau Claire areas. It is designed to test radio, network, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) integration capabilities for multiple agencies.
Large trailers and trucks will be on and around campus, and a BlackHawk helicopter is scheduled to arrive around 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 4.
