‘Walking the Tightrope of a Complete Academic’ with Haynie, Gurung

Profs. Aeron Haynie, Humanistic Studies, and Regan Gurung, Human Development, will facilitate a CATL workshop on Friday (April 9). The session, “Walking the Tightrope of a Complete Academic,” runs from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. in the Union’s Wequiock Room.

Is it possible to be a successful, productive professor and have a full, rich life? Is stress an integral part of academic culture? (And how do common misconceptions about academia add to this stress?) Presenters and participants will discuss recent research in health psychology and gender studies that highlights positive strategies for creating academic workplaces that allow a better integration of work and life. It’s part of the new-faculty orientation series, but open and of value to all.
