Nursing honorary solicits donations for local schoolchildren

The local Kappa Pi chapter — which includes students and faculty/staff from both the UW-Green Bay Professional Program in Nursing and Bellin College — has launched its 2010 service project, an “Adopt a School” initiative. Kappa Pi is partnering with Martin Elementary Principal Carrie Shepherd to “adopt” the school, which has a total student population of 402 students, of whom roughly 40 percent qualify for the free/reduced school lunch program. Shepherd and her staff have developed a list of needed items that will help assist the school and its staff in meeting the needs of this at-risk population.

Donations will be accepted from April 10 through 26. You may drop off your donations with Ruth Pearson, Mary Ann Coffrin Hall A304, email:  pearsonr@uwgb.edu , or phone 465-2826. Cash donations will also be accepted so items not donated can be purchased. Checks made out to Kappa Pi can be mailed to Bellin College, Attn:  Kathie DeMuth, Room 231, 3201 Eaton Road., Green Bay,  email: kathie.demuth@bellincollege.edu, or phone 433-6671.  Items suggested for donation include:
