Phoenix draws Minnesota in WNIT opener

The Green Bay women’s basketball program will be making its 17th consecutive postseason tournament appearance on Wednesday (March 19), facing the University of Minnesota in the opening round of the WNIT at 7 p.m. at historic Williams Arena in Minneapolis. The Phoenix (22-9) received an automatic berth into the WNIT after winning the Horizon League regular season championship. Minnesota (20-12) was the top Big Ten team to not qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Said Coach Kevin Borseth, “I am extremely proud of our team’s accomplishments thus far this season including winning the Horizon League regular season title, and for them to have a chance to play for a national title will be an exciting opportunity.” Green Bay is 6-6 all-time vs. the Gophers.
